Generating network topologies that obey power laws
نویسندگان
چکیده
Recent studies have shown that Internet graphs and other network systems follow power-laws. Do artiicial network topologies commonly used in network simulation studies obey these power-laws? In this paper we show that current topology generators do not obey all of the power-laws, and we present two new topology generators that do. Finally, we re-evaluate a multicast study to demonstrate the impact of power-law topologies.

* Corresponding author, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), UK and British Telecommunications Plc Abstract: Recent developments in Internet mapping and metrification have suggested that the topology of the Internet follows a series of power laws. In this paper we propose a simple algorithm for generating such topologies which uses growth and existing connec...

* Corresponding author, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), UK and British Telecommunications PLC Abstract: Recent developments in Internet mapping and metrification as well as research into scale-free networks has given us an insight into modelling inter-connected IP networks. A number of topology generators have emerged which attempt to generate topologie...

Modeling peer-to-peer (P2P) networks is a challenge for P2P researchers. In this paper, we provide a detailed analysis of large-scale hybrid P2P overlay network topology, using Gnutella as a case study. First, we re-examine the power-law distributions of the Gnutella network discovered by previous researchers. Our results show that the current Gnutella network deviates from the earlier power-la...

متن کاملAnalyzing the Effect Adding an Active Feedback Network with an Inductive behavior to a Common-Gate Topology as a Transimpedance Amplifier for Low-Power and Wide-Band Communication Applications
Common Gate (CG) topologies are commonly used as the first stage in Transimpedance Amplifiers (TIA), due to their low input resistance. But, this structure is not solely used as a TIA and comes with other topologies such as differential amplifiers or negative resistances and capacitances. This paper deals with analyzing the effect of adding an active feedback network to a common gate topology...
